This is the seventh season that Sailonline will be associated with tall ships races organised by Sail Training International. This year’s events will shortly begin with the remarkable Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta. Sailonline will begin its programme of transatlantic tall ships races in Sines (Race 2 for the real ships) racing the Sailonline Clipper ship polar. The real fleet will be making a stopover in the Canary Islands, but in a bid to remain competitive with the fastest members of the real fleet, Sailonline will be sailing by the islands and continuing on to Bermuda. From Bermuda we head to Boston, where we leave the real ships to visit many ports in N America. Finally we rejoin the real fleet for a race back to Europe from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Sailonline’s virtual sailing experience runs hand in hand with Sail Training International's mission - the development and education of young people through the sail training experience, regardless of nationality, culture, religion, gender or social background. Sail Training International and Sailonline both count heavily on volunteer support with financial gain excluded from the equation.

If you have never sailed on a tall ship, then your experience of navigating one on Sailonline will genuinely bring you a sense of how challenging it was for those who explored our oceans in days gone by. This is a wonderful opportunity to dive into the world of tall ships and tall ship racing and we hope you will join us. You can start by registering now (it's free!) and learning the basics of racing on the Sailonline navsim platform so you will be ready for your Clipper.

There are four classes of Tall Ship in the real races, ranging from the biggest Class A Square Rigged ships of more than 40m in length, down to training yachts of 9.14m. Sailonline has developed performance polars based on published data for several tall ships, and races to compete against Class A ships.

Shearwater - Rio de la Plata to Irish Sea 2026

Welcome to the fourth leg of our MIG series. This time we're racing the Sooty Shearwater on their migration from the breeding grounds in South America to the northern Atlantic. This is also part of our Ocean Championship, and as such the third race of OCQ3 2026. This race will be sailed in our Gunboat 90. Race #2055

New Ice Age 2026 - Scott Base to Neumayer Station


To complete our DN circumnavigation of Antarctica and our 4-race ice-boat marathon series, we continue clockwise, now departing from Scott Base back to Neumayer Station. It’s about 3500nm back as well, which, as said if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Tenerife to Fernando de Noronha


The sixth race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us back up the Atlantic to Tenerife, from whence we will depart on a classic transatlantic passage to Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha. It’s 2150nm as the albatross flies, but you will undoubtedly have to take some and sometimes sudden detours to get your Volvo 70v4 through the doldrums stretching across your path from the Amazon to the Niger.

Palk Bay TIMED Race 2026

This month’s TIMED race takes us to the shallow waters of Palk Bay located between India and Sri Lanka. Sail the impressive MC 38 around a roughly 140 nm course through two narrow channels before returning to the start/finish line in Jaffna.
This is a TIMEDrace so you may RE-REGISTER HEREto try again after finishing a run. You will have two weeks to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.
